The purpose of this article to present a case study where the authors use a combined difference-in-difference/regression discontinuity approach as a method to evaluate multiple, simultaneous health system improvement activities. The authors review several methods that are used to evaluate the effects of healthcare improvement efforts and show their advantages and limitations. They connect the combined difference-in-difference/regression discontinuity approach to its usefulness in the learning health system.
